Dewars Restaurant & Rooms is a bold and characterful boutique hotel in North Yorkshire, featuring individually designed guest rooms, poolside suites and richly layered public spaces. Working from first fix through to completion, we delivered interior architecture, lighting design, bespoke joinery and fully curated interiors, creating a vibrant, luxurious destination where every space has its own identity and aesthetic appeal.

Dewars Restaurant & Rooms is a boutique hotel set in the heart of North Yorkshire, comprising 10 luxury en-suite bedrooms within the main building and a further 9 poolside suites located within the grounds. The hotel also includes restaurant, bar and guest lounge spaces, all designed to deliver a distinctive and immersive guest experience. The project was an 18-month journey, beginning when the building had reached first fix stage. Working closely with the architect, we refined the space planning to improve flow and functionality, including the introduction of a residents’ sitting room adjacent to the restaurant, creating an inviting area for guests to relax.

The client brief was ambitious and refreshingly bold. Every bedroom, bathroom and public space was to be individually designed, with no repetition and no neutral schemes. The interiors were to celebrate colour, pattern and texture, ensuring that each guest room had its own identity and “wow factor”, while remaining cohesive across the hotel as a whole. Our scope of work included interior architecture, space planning, lighting design, bespoke cabinetry and full interior detailing. Each bedroom was individually curated using layered wallpapers, fabrics, tiles and floor finishes, complemented by bespoke headboards, custom furniture and carefully coordinated decorative lighting. Lighting design played a key role throughout the project, enhancing atmosphere and elevating the interiors at every level.

The same attention to detail extends across the public spaces, from the reception and restaurant through to the bar and ground floor restrooms, all of which were designed as integral parts of the overall guest experience rather than secondary spaces.
The poolside suites and garden accommodation continue the design narrative, each room individually styled and set within landscaped grounds that include a swimming pool and bespoke circular sauna. Accessibility was also carefully considered, with discreet contemporary fittings integrated into a ground floor suite to support guests with mobility requirements.
The completed hotel is a vibrant and characterful destination that reflects the client’s confidence and love of colour. The result is a highly individual boutique hotel offering a luxurious and memorable experience for guests.
