Following a recommendation by a former client, Sara Cussons was asked to consult on the interior and space planning of a Grade II Listed country house. Last updated in the 60s the renovation required a complete modification to the space to bring it up to date and turn it into a beautiful family home.
The aim was to breathe life into a house that had lost its sense of home. Of great importance was the creation of a practical yet stylish family living spaces with formal areas for entertaining for the grownups. From concept to completion Sara Cussons was involved in the selection of flooring, design of rugs and furniture design created to integrate storage, multimedia, and AV solutions.
An informal entrance hall is furnished with a reclaimed brick flooring which flows through to the Boot Room and children’s cloak room all furnished with attractive storage solutions. A mixture of oak and limestone flooring runs through the playroom, into the dining room where it merges with the limestone flooring which furnishes the kitchen and garden room. A pleasant wood burning stove in cream by Chesney’s becomes a focal point and adds a cosy feel to the large open plan space.
A luxury master suite was designed to include a his and hers dressing room and stunning bathroom with walk in shower and feature bath. Lighting from Porta Romana, Root and Vaughan throughout the property were chosen to create stunning lighting and the children’s bedrooms and bathrooms were designed with calming colours and patterns from Suzie Watson and Jane Churchill.
